Perfect layer

I just got this and used it fishing on Erie this spring. Very comfortable, surprisingly warm for how thin and light it is. Very breathable as well. I can see this becoming a go to insulation layer.

Cozy Active Insulation

I am 5’11” and 195 lbs. I am a big fan of Primaloft, and this new sherpa-esque insulation is really nice to wear. It has been great for everyday wear, but I recently took it out on a scouting trip to test how it worked under rigorous hiking and cooler weather with a chance of rain. I had a synthetic baselayer and Mountain Evo Jacket for the ascent. The Mountain Jacket performed very well, although I was very surprised at how wet my back was when I removed my backpack and put on the Ambient 100 for when I was glassing. I now had a baselayer, Ambient, Mountain Evo Jacket, and it started raining lightly. I was at a perfect temperature, and the moisture on my back seemed unbothered when the Ambient 100 came in contact with my shirt. The temps dropped, and the layer system did really well as I hiked further up the mountain. I didn’t get too hot or sweaty and felt very comfortable in the low 40s. As we hit 8800 ft, it began to snow, and I put my Dew Point Jacket on. Now, I had a layering system of baselayer, Ambient 100, Mountain Jacket, and Dew Point Jacket. It all fit very well and didn't feel bulky or constrictive. Temps were now wet and cold; low 30s with a bit of wind. Hiking downhill was a win, and I never felt overheated or wet. Final thoughts—Ambient 100, Black (Size Large): I truly love it. I wish the male part of the zipper was a little larger. Sometimes, it is hard to get it engaged. This is a minor issue, but the jacket is supreme. I wonder if there needs to be some sort of stitching on the jacket, as the Riptstop face feels like it is floating away from the Primaloft. It probably enhances breathing. Mountain Evo Jacket, Subalpine, and Deep Lichen (Size Large Tall): The arm lengths are different on both jackets. My subalpine is too long, and a simple sleeve roll-up is a perfect fit. I wish the Deep Lichen color were the same as my Dew Point Jacket. The Mountain Jacket has a bit more yellow, while the Dew Point has more black. The fit is great, the performance on the back is awesome, and the windproof technology was a win for me. This pairs very well with my kit. The hood could have a little more reach, but I have a longer neck, so it didn't fit perfectly, but it was satisfactory for me. Dew Point Jacket, Deep Lichen (Size Large Tall): Amazing jacket. I have had my run-through rain jackets, and this jacket is very nice. I love the color, the performance and the ability to keep me dry. I have tested this in some serious rain and even some snow. One critique is that the zipper at the top by sternum catches on an inner flap, but other than that, this is a stellar piece of gear for my kit. I also love the deep pockets that work well with my backpack.

One of my new favorites

Tentatively bought this jacket shortly after they came out. Not much info on the internet yet or reviews of it to get a great feel for it, but have to say that it has quickly become one of my favorite new go to jackets to wear. I like wearing hoodies on a typical cool day, but this has replaced them for the most part. This jacket is warm, breathes incredibly well, and is extremely soft and comfortable. A great layering piece or as an outside jacket when active. I will say that I wish the pockets were insulated, and I would not recommend wearing this in thick brush as it likely will accelerate wear and tear on the outside. Also, not a good jacket for the rain, although it may not be bad in a light drizzle. Great everyday wear piece, you won’t sweat in it! Also great for a mid layer over a T-shirt or under a heavier jacket like the Jetstream.

Essential Piece in my system

It's a perfect mid-layer piece that weighs next to nothing. The DWR was an awesome touch for those quick showers until I could put on my Dew Point jacket. With a core base layer, the ambient, and dew point on standby, I can comfortably hunt from 45-60 degrees.

Perfect turkey piece for cooler

Perfect turkey piece for cooler mornings in North Carolina. Wore this with a Core lightweight + Core midweight and was comfortable in the high 30's. Comfortable in the 50's with just a Core lightweight. 5'11", 240lbs, XL is a great fit. Kind of an athletic fit but not too tight.

Only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is the color options. The pullover version and full zip are offered in different colors. Otherwise it has been an awesome purchase.

Ambient 100

I wore this for the first time on a baited bear hunt. That wasn't the intended reason for buying it but I wanted to try it out. It was in the upper 50's and windy in stand. I was comfortable in stand and it was great during the recovery. To rips or tears while dragging out bear through heavy brush.

I used this during Iowa

I used this during Iowa deer bow season. Worked great for early to mid season sits when temps drop. Stores easily in back pack and is very quiet. I combine it with fanatic hoodie on really colder hunts.

The best overall jacket I

The best overall jacket I own. You can wear it most of the year and the inside is that brushed interior that helps both with heat and to keep it off your skin. This is my new go to jacket. It could even just be worn around town if you get a solid color. Most people wouldn’t know.

New Ambient Hooded Jacket

I've had the Ambient hoody for a couple years and it's my favorite piece of gear. So when they came out with this one that has pockets in the ambient line I had to have it. Works in a wide range of temperatures and packs up really small with very little weight.

Ambient 100

For me this is by far the best Ambient coat/jacket, I have the other two. A full zip with a hood works best for me and the hood is designed perfect for visibility while waterfowl hunting. The only complaint I have is the fraying of the face fabric when under my Hudson or Nodak bibs. I want to give it a 5 though I'm concerned that after one year those two locations of fraying will be worn through and a $299 garment should last longer than that. Other than the fraying issue it is a great product and I have put it to the test since getting it for Christmas, around 25 days of hunting. Make it in the Marsh camo and I'm sure I would buy another one.

Bought this to take on a cruise to Alaska. Love the light feel and it fits great under my Jetstream Jacket. Decided to order another one for hunting.

Favorite hoody

I am 5’11 195 lbs athletic build, I ordered large and it was perfect. I own both the older half zip and the full zip. I like the elastic at the end of the sleeves of the new full zip much better but I like the adjustable bottom of the half zip. Other than those differences both are fantastic and extremely warm. I have done many 5-10 patrols in the last couple years with both at any where from 15-60 degrees and it is my favorite layer by far. I have also been skydiving in it at -13 degrees it did surprisingly well blocking wind. They do start pilling very easy so if you want it to stay looking nice you can’t use it for it’s intended purpose but for me I use it hard and don’t mind the pilling.

I only gave it 4 stars for the simple reason it doesn’t have drawstrings. I don’t know why they left that feature out of this jacket. Not a big deal (you would think) but on an insulation mid layer it would have been nice. It kinda just hangs down which isn’t the end of the world, it would have just been a lot nicer to be able to cinch in snug.

Most Versatile Mid Layer made!

The Ambient has become my favorite mid layer to date I've ever tried. When asked about its performance I tell people that "the Ambient is everything they say it is, you should try without hesitation". Cold, hot, wet, dry, high or low exertion.. it seems to work great in all conditions.

Best overall jacket I’ve purchased from Sitka and I have a ton of gear from them. This is by far the best piece they have made and I hope they keep it stocked for years to come. It’s my favorite piece besides the dakota hoodie. Both pieces the ambient 100 full zip hoodie and Dakota hoodie need to come in Earth color. MAKE MORE EARTH SOLIDS IN ALL PIECES. Earth and Pyrite are the best colors. Oak would be nice as well. I’m wearing the hoodie everyday and own two pull over’s as well and love them all but the full zip has front pockets and a hood. Keeps me warm enough and will even repell light snow and rain. Thank you Sitka Gear, thanks John Barklow and the whole team. Keep releasing awesome stuff! I’m a disabled combat veteran, so it’s very important that I invest into the right type of gear when I spend my money and every time I spend money on Sitka I’m never disappointed.

This jacket is so functional and versatile. I bought it originally for early season hunting and loved it so much I bought another one for everyday cooler weather.

Great jacket

I have a lot of Sitka gear and this is one of the best most versatile pieces I have. Weight to warmth is off the chart and somehow it’s breathable.

Comfortable and warm

I live in SC and for a Southerner it's a little cold here at times. Bought the XL and I've worn this jacket in as cool as 30 deg with a wind hand have been comfortable. This will work great as a layer for a heavier Sitka jacket in temps much colder. I like cold weather gear that keeps me warm and not looking like the Michelin Man to stay warm.

Great Jacket

Bought the regular Ambient in E2 for deer season and loved it. Ended up buying the Ambient 100 hooded jacket in black for everyday, and love it just as much. Crazy how warm they are without being bulky or heavy. One of my favorite pieces of Sitka gear. Does run a little on the small side even for Sitka. Ordered a large in both.

Best jacket I own. I run it paddling out to duck hunt, it’s perfect for taking the chill off and still dumping body heat when needed. It’s not wind proof so once I cool down I throw a shell over it and am comfortable in the 30s. I also use it for deer hunting whitetail and sika deer. The warmth to weight ratio is fantastic. This is always in my pack. I even use it for hikes. The full zip makes it so easy to take on and off.

This jacket keeps you warm in the cold but does an excellent job of keeping you cool when your body temperature gets up. I wear my black XLT to aork but also makes an excellent mid-layer to my hunting regiment. Thanks Sitka for producing the best products for us outdoor enthusiasts and us professional guides!

Lightweight and warm

Loving the ambient 100 so far. The only improvement I would make is strengthening the outer fabric. It catches and rips small holes pretty easily, so I wouldn’t wear it as my top layer while bushwhacking or on a stalk.

Just right for Late Season Hunt

I got this for the recently cold GA mornings on the tail end of deer season and it was perfect! Very quiet and not bulky for use with my crossbow.

Very good piece of gear

This is an excellent hoody, light, warm, and comfortable. However...I have to say that I like the Traverse better. It is just as warm, has a full zip, several pockets, a face mask, and the sleeves extend in to half gloves. I think the Travers is better at shedding light precipitation.

Very very warm, fabric does get caught easily and there are pulls from getting caught one stuff. That would be my only gripe.

Can’t beat this jacket

This jacket is super versatile and I haven’t found a situation where it didn’t excel. I used it through the late archery deer season in the upper Midwest. A standalone outer layer while hiking in to my tree stand or spot and stalk, it worked great and moderated my temperature. Very breathable, but holds in enough heat to keep you warm. When in the tree stand I would usually throw my stratus vest or fanatic vest over the top, depending on the wind and temperature, but this ended up being one of my primary pieces this late season. I love all the ambient collection but this jacket has a full zip with hood and front pockets, pretty much combines all the features some of the other models are missing. Avoid the thorns and briars; it is durable but will succumb to a sharp snag. Turned into my winter hiking jacket as well because of the warmth and breathability.
