It’s a great pair of pants…however…I haven’t had my pair for a year yet and I lost all of the strings for the zippers. That part is poorly made or the knots have to be a more sturdy knot.

Big fan of these pants.

Big fan of these pants. I wear them in the 70s - 80s when the Mountain Pants are a bit too much. Extremely lightweight and breathable. My only complaints are: 1) They are a bit brighter than all my other Sitka items of the same camouflaged pattern. I feel like I stick out more to game with them...obviously not sure if that's the case or not, but I prefer the more dull lighting of my other items. 2) Some pockets are zippered but not all. I feel like all should be.

Great lightweight pants for hot

Great lightweight pants for hot weather and just perfect for backpacking due to how light and packable they are. The sizing on these pants is a little squirrely though and not like the other Sitka pants. I wear the 34T in all Sitka pants, except with these the 34 is rather tight on my waist and a little tight in the butt/crotch as well, making them less comfortable than most Sitka pants. I tried ordering the 35R this time to see how much that helps with the tight waist. A 35T would be ideal for me, but apparently I have to jump to the 36 waist to get the next Tall version and the 36T is longer than the 34T. It seems I'm right between their sizes on these pants. If the sizing wasn't different on these pants compared to their other pants, I would probably have given these 5 stars.

Very light and breathable. Perfect for steep mountain hunts in the north Idaho heat. The pants are quiet, dry quickly and don't show dirt thanks to the camo. I would highly recommend these for hunting unless wet conditions are expected.

Love these pants for early season bow hunts. The only drawback is there seems to be way too much material around the bottom of the leg. Not necessarily at the leg opening, but between the knee and the leg opening. It is constantly catching on tree branches. Annoying.

Best early season pants on

Best early season pants on the market. They have exceeded my expectations in every area. 1. I have never seen another fabric dry so quickly. 2. They are tough as nails. I’m extra hard on gear. When I first held them I said “ these won’t make it through the day' but I was so wrong. After many uses and washings they show no wear. 3. This fabric breaths like nothing I have ever seen but yet provides some warmth once the sun sets.

Fantastic pants. Perfect early to

Fantastic pants. Perfect early to mid-season pants for active hunts. The scent control is an awesome feature. They have the right amount of pockets in the right places to carry everything you need and nothing you don't. My main reason for the review is to help out anyone looking at these for sizing. I'm 6'2', 195lbs. I have a fairly athletic build and I where a 34T in the Timberline pants. They're a perfect fit. I had to go up to the 36T in the Ascent pants to get the same fit as the Timberlines. Both pants are 'performance fit' so I'm not sure why the difference in sizing but I hope this helps.

I am a big fan

I am a big fan of this pants. They are light weight, breathable, durable, and just enough stretch. I am typically hard on gear. I have a habit of busting through brush and ripping up clothes on fences and brush. That being said, these pants hold up. I really like the 'rubber' around the waist it really helps the pants stay up. The stretch is great to. I would say it is less stretchy then leggings or something like that. However, they stretch just enough so they don't bind when moving. I used to buy my hunting pants a size or two big so they would be loose enough that they wouldn't bind up when crouching or kneeling. That isn't necessary with these pants. I am going to add some knee pads to them, and they will be the perfect pant for early season hunts here in Colorado. I really like the side zipper pockets. I will slip a few loads or speed loaders for my muzzleloader in there and don't have to worry about losing them. One thing I will say though is don't be afraid of the breathability. I thought breathability would mean cold on those crisp 30-degree mornings, but I pair these with the heavy weight bottoms, and they are more than warm enough. Pick these up and you won't be disappointed. I am going to pick up another pair for a backpacking hunt this fall.

Awesome pant, I’m not built

Awesome pant, I’m not built like a “mountain hunter” 215lbs with a 38” waist. These pants are phenomenal, the 4way stretch keeps round guys like me comfortable all day. They dry fast too, I used them wet wading a few times so far. I’ll be buying a second pair soon.

These are the most comfortable

These are the most comfortable pants I own. I have them in subalpine and pyrite and I use them for hunting, hanging treestands, or just laying around the house. They do run small. Im 5'10 195 and I wear a 34 in regular pants but in all Sitka pants I wear a 36. They are tapered at the bottom so they are easier to get into boots. The only complaint that I have about them is that they dont have butt pockets. But other than that these are my favorite pants.

What can I say that

What can I say that hasn’t already been said by other reviewers about this pant? I’ll never buy a different western hunting pant. Super lightweight and comfortable. Breathes very well and flexes and stretches in all the right places without being baggy or loose. And yet somehow remains ridiculously durable. Several times I’ve been hiking through blowdown and snagged the pant thinking I had to have torn a hole only to look down and find no damage. Love them so much I bought the subalpine and the solid to wear as my casual/non-hunting outdoor pant. Can’t go wrong.

I always reserve judgment on

I always reserve judgment on gear until I have the opportunity to properly thrash on it. I have had these pants for a few seasons now and I was pretty impressed with their ability to hold up to brambles and scrub after the first one. This last pack cemented my love for them. I drug a grizzly off of a mountain through thick alder. Slid down rocks and dirt on my butt due to heavy loads and tight quarters. Rolled in sand and water. By the end up the hunt the pants were almost completely black from dirt and sweat and blood. I washed em. They came out clean, no pulls, no tears. Still look and work great. With durability like that I won't need another set for a long time.

These are hands down the best hunting pants I’ve ever purchased. I just got back from a 7 day archery elk hunt in Utah and me and my buddy hiked an average of 7 miles per day through thick terrain and these pants got through every bit of it. These pants are paper thin and very breathable and they are extremely durable. I wish they had these pants in every other camo because I’d buy them in marsh and timber as well. I highly recommend!

Put these pants through the ringer on 4 days of spot and stalk archery antelope hunting. Mid-August temps on the prairie of Eastern Montana ranged from high 50s at night to 103 during the heat of the day. These pants performed flawlessly and held up to a lot of abuse on long crawls across the dry desert. The material is extremely light, stretchy, breathes well but is also durable. I put some agonizing stalks on during the heat of the day in 100+ degree temps and I might as well have been wearing shorts. One important thing to note: the material is a bit noisier than I like and could be a little loud for hunting in the timber but hey... can't have it all and thus... five stars from me.

These are quite possibly the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn. In fact, I golf in them. They aren’t made to be quiet. A little loud for spot and stalk. Great for September elk in SW NM. Love em for Summer scouting too. I wish they made a 28 and a 29 waist in all their pants. These were made to fit flush against your body and stretch with your movement. I’m a skinny fella. These are my favorite pair

These are my favorite pair of hunting pants. I've tried a bunch of cheaper pants over the years and finally decided to try out some Sitka gear and I'm glad I did. I wore these during the Utah archery hunt which starts in mid August. They are light weight enough that even in temperatures over 90 degrees I felt comfortable. During the extended season when the temps dropped I wore a base layer under them and stayed warm. Even after wearing them all season they still look like new. My experience with them has been so good that I have purchased some more Sitka gear since and have been happy with everything I've bought. The only criticism I have of them is that the hip pockets are very shallow. My phone always falls out of the pocket while sitting on the ground glassing.

Hands down my favorite lightweight pant! Every brand offers a lightweight pant but the Ascent offers the best breathability, are still very durable and have the features you'd expect with a high end pant. I 'run' hot so lightweight pants are what I wear 90% of the time, I've been impressed how tough these are. If you're looking for the ultimate lightweight pant, get these and you won't be disappointed.

THESE PANTS ARE AMAZING!!! I have worn them in sun, rain and snow, on northern sheep hunts, in tree stands, hunting elk and deer in the rockies, they do everything! They are very light and breathable but magically seem to block just the right amount of wind when it starts to get chilly. These pants are also wayyyyy more durable than they seem, I have snagged them on rocks, branches and thorns and they still look perfect. These are by far my favourite piece of Sitka gear that I own, I even persuaded my dad to get a pair and he loves them too! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

This is by FAR the

This is by FAR the best hunting pant I've ever worn. These pants are tough and well made, lightweight and very comfortable. I've worn these pants on the hottest of days, and in the snow and they work perfect for either. This pant also fit very well with no extra bulk, or weight. The only thing I suggest is buying these one extra inch bigger in the waist. I have a 32' waist and these pants fit, but were just a little tight. I went with the 33' waist and it fits awesome, so just something to think about before purchasing. These pants are made lightweight which work well for an archery elk, or deer hunt on the hottest of days in August when you need to move around quickly, or just to stay cool. I've also worn them through a half foot of snow on very cold days, and my legs never got cold at all. If you want one of the best all around pants every made, then these are worth buying for sure!!!

I have several pairs of the previous versions of Ascent pants. The original, although warmer, were much more versatile. I have worn them from 20 - 80 degrees F. This new iteration is a bit of a disappointment. Definitely lighter weight and breath better. However, there is no DWR coating, so even the slightest drop of water goes right through these to the skin. Also, the cut is different. You may want to consider going up a size. The fly does not zip well unless the waist is unbuttoned. I will hold off buying another pair of these until they are improved upon.

Had a hard core hunt

Had a hard core hunt on the windy cliffs of one ultra difficult elk hunt in Montana and these pants did the job! I was layered correctly and was hidden well for a ground ambush. On my knees for more than two hours, waiting for my chance to tag out on a world class bull. These pants with the extra knee protection helped 110%. The pants work well in moderate to slightly cold temps before using extra layers. Suggesting at temp near 32 F have extra thermal gear on up to 50 F. These pants are ideal from 50 F to 70 F. If your day is going to be really active add 10 F to the temp to dress correctly. Hope this helps. Happy Hunting.
