It works!
Living in Alabama, misquitos are a problem nearly year round. Even though I bought this after the deer season has gone out, I was able to try it while shooting my bow in the spring. It flat out works! I had this hoodie on and shorts. My arms and body didn’t have a single bite on them while my legs were getting eaten alive! I can’t wait to try this out for early season in Alabama, as well as using this as my primary next to skin layer for most of the season.

Great defense against swamp mosquitos!
Nice fit overall. I would prefer a snugger fit on the mask and hood. The facemask kept sliding down. Easy to move in. Breathes well. No mosquito bites except around the eyes where I only had 25% deet.

Super legit so far
Wore this hoody for the first time coyote hunting this eve.It’s was 75 degrees and mosquitoes were out thick. Had no bites through the hoody. However they wore my hands out so I will be getting some of the gloves as well. I never got hot in this hoody and could feel the breeze coming through.the mask and hood worked great too. I ordered a size smaller than what I normally wear and the fit is good.

East Texas Approved!
Most of my hunts (scouting excursions) are in the Piney Woods of East Texas. It's hot and humid for most of the spring, summer, and fall. I've warn this hoody every time out. I don't need the Thermocell or sprays/creams with it on. It's hands down my one, go to, outerwear.

Excellent, with one down side
Down here in FL, I typically only need this top as a stand alone through the year. I wear this shirt every hunt. I only need a jacket a few weeks during a deer season. This shirt is a must because of the mosquitoes, I’ve truly noticed a better experience when being in an area with a lot of them. The built in repellent does seem to help but i think the best part of the hoody is the fabric. Mosquitoes do have a hard time biting through it. Now the bad…this thing gets wet with sweat very quickly. Because of the protection the fabric gives. It is a very hot shirt when there is no wind. So I have to wash it constantly. I love mine and will wear it for the foreseeable future , but man it doesn’t breathe and it stays wet all day.

Great Coverup
I have three of these hoodies: two regular and one with Insect Shield. I use them to add the kind of camo I need. Some blinds work best with black outerwear whereas treestands require real camo. I buy them a size larger than I would normally wear so I can slip them on over a light jacket. They're stretchy so this works quite well. Love the built-in face mask.

Great for hunting in the salt marshes
Runs really big wear a XL in all sitka tops had to return for a L wish is still a little big. Wear in the salt marshes hunting Sika deer works well to keep the skeeters from biting through. Use to wear the core light weight and would get eat up in the shoulders. Not with this.

Great early season hoody
This is not only a great early season hoody, but a great base layer for the whole season as well. It does keep bugs off you. The thumb loops don't dig in when used as a base layer. It does everything advertised and more. Moisture wicking is amazing. It doesn't block wind or water, but it is not meant to. For a budget this is a must get. It has replaced a few of my other tops.

Early Season Must!
This is an absolute must during early season whitetail. It covers you completely but isnt heavy enough to make you hot. Ive worn it as a standalone and watched mosquitos land on my arms only to immediately fly away. Ive also worn it as a very light base layer during the first few cool mornings and its been great.

Early Season Winner
Doing some early season bow hunting in Central KS this week and it is hot and buggy. With a previous warm weather hoody, I was getting bit through the hood on my head - if I had hair, it wouldn’t be fair. Zero bites on my bald during a sit near a wet low area where lots of biting bugs were present. Didn’t sweat either and it was 85 degrees. Awesome hoody. Kept the critters away
I ordered this hoping that it would somehow stand up to the swarms of mosquitos in the marshes of coastal Georgia while still being light enough for a warm hunt. I was pleasantly surprised that it worked as advertised. The bugs were indeed swarming, but unlike other tops I've tried, the bugs weren't biting through this one. I stayed cool the entire time as well. Sitka nailed this one.

Worth the Money
Purchased this hoping it would keep the ticks off as I’ve had Lyme disease multiple times. With warm winters the last few year the ticks have been back and this kept them off. I didn’t have one Rick on me during Turkey season this year while I am normally pulling off multiple per trip. I paired it with the jet stream vest on the cool mornings to get the extra heat until the sun was up and beating down. Keeps the sun off of you nicely as well.

Fit and Function Could be Improved
Sizing runs big causing sloppy fit impacting an archers draw cycle. Additionally, the chest pocket should be on the left side for right-handed archers. Excess sizing and the chest pocket location is no bueno for me. Love the insect shield feature of this hoody... definitely helps keep bugs at bay!

I wear XL in all my sitka tops and hoodies. Everything is a pretty neat fit apart from this. XL seems to be huge and a really loose fit. Otherwise it does the job

Fits a size bigger than Core Lightweight hoodie
I'm 5'8" stocky, athletic build. My Large Core lightweight hoodie fits me perfect so logically this would too.. But it almost fits me like an XL. I look like a freaking slob in this thing. Not happy.

BEST SPRING SHIRT
I was skeptical when I first saw the price but decided to give it a try, I have come to find out when I say "there are no bugs out" my buddies correct me that there is in fact bugs and ALOT of them. The Equinox Guard Hoody. I bought one in black this spring and took it with me for my 2 week trip into Denali. This year was one of the worst misquote years Rangers could remember. I wore that shirt for 12 days. Rinsed it once at a spring. The fabric wore like iron never snagging and it totally kept the mosquitoes off. The hood kept both bugs and sun off my neck,ears,and head. This shirt is the real deal.

Wore the hoodie and pants during spring bear season in Alaska. Mosquitoes are huge here and swarm you by the thousands the second you get out of the truck. My buddy got ate up by them in the stand, I didn’t get a single bite. Will order another set in solid colors for all around wear.

Awesome shirts
I wear these to hunt in as well as wear them to work. Working outside in fields and forests all summer is problematic with ticks and chiggers. These shirts fend off anything that bites and keeps me from getting Lyme disease. Pair it with the guard pants and you’re protected.

Sitka doesn't even know it,
Sitka doesn't even know it, but they just made the best fly fishing hoodie the market has to offer, I am a wade fly fisher and fish in the Adirondacks. Black flies are crazy stupid. This hoodie does extremely well keeping the flies away, has great sun protection, and wick moisture really well keeping you cool when you are in your waders. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. This is also my go to piece for turkey season.

This is an excellent product.
This is an excellent product. As a resident of New York mosquitos are a huge problem. I find this garment as a staple for my gear to be able to put it on in a moment's notice when the mosquitos appear. I have used it for work mostly as an over shirt, so I don't have to spray myself down with bug spray. You put it on and it's like parting the seas and the mosquitos leave you alone. The expedition cut is awesome, as I'm built like a football player with a larger upper body - 3xl. This fits over top of my shirt with a loose fit allowing me to move unlike most Sitka products that are a standard fit which for me means tight fitting. If you are someone that likes a tighter fit, you may want to size down but for me Sitka built this perfectly.

I bought this for spring
I bought this for spring turkey season in Missouri, like all the rest of Sitka gear it's the best in the field, it always lives up to the advertising and descriptions. Tough as nails. I'm a size XXX and everything has fit perfect except for the Equinox Guard Hoody, this XXX should actually be a 4X, it's way too big on me. Not sure what happened on the fit on this one. Other than that... products are the best on the market. I'm a huge fan!!

Absolutely amazing piece. 10/10 recommend. Keeps the bugs off you and keeps you cool on warm days. Sizing is standard to all other Sitka. I wear xl in everything so I got this in xl and the fit is perfect. It’s very elastic which I don’t love but don’t hate. I do dislike the chest pocket on the right being as I’m a right handed shooter. All their other gear it’s on the left. Reason for four out of five stars is the chest pocket and it could be a little less elastic/stretchy.

This shirt is perfect for the 55+ afternoon hunts especially while hoofing it deep into public land. If you throw a long sleeve under this you could probably get away with even cooler temps. Overall keeps bugs off and the built in mask is awesome.

This was my 1st time
This was my 1st time hunting, let alone Turkey hunting. I heard how nightmarish the bugs could be so I went with the insect guard gear. It was light enough to not be sweating in the midday sun & kept what bugs I did encounter off of me. Not a mosquito or tick bit me. I would definitely recommend making this purchase for anywhere you may encounter bugs and warm/hot hunts.
