Better then expected

I wanted a thermal I could take on and off without taking my boots off. The warmth that these provided were a pleasant surprise. Great quality I bought the matching top after using these.

Very versatile and warm

I wore these on several hunts this year in temps from the teens to the low 30’s. My legs stayed warm. When I got too warm, like going inside, I’d just zip them off easy peasy. No need to even take my boots off. Love them!

I love the feel of these but they were a little big on me. Probably my fault for ordering the wrong size

Love these. Only bought these because the non zip off was sold out. But , Best baselayer ever because they zip off without taking everything off! So convenient to drag out deer or hang a stand in the pm. When it's warmer. A tad bit tight in the thighs, so might need to go up a size.

Must have for big temp swing hunting days

Love these bottoms. Great for cold mornings and then later in the day just lower your pants and zip them off. Or later in the day when the temp drops zip them back on. comfortable as well.

Capri model seems goofy

Not sure why these aren’t full length. I suppose because they are zippers nobody wants to untie their boots to get them off or the zipper line would be uncomfortable tucked into boots. Fit loose. Wouldn’t buy another pair for the money

Zip off Merino 330

Got to use these on a cold elk hunt that ended up being more active than anticipated. Started with them on and they did their job of keeping me warm. We spotted cow elk across a canyon and got to chasing them down. After about a mile, I was too hot. I was able to shed these things quick and lost no time. Perfect addition to my gear.

If you hunted long at all you’ve had those days when it’s freezing cold that morning and warms up drastically in the afternoon. Well Sitka has come up with the answer with this base layer. Easy to take off without having to undress to do it, not to mention how warm and comfortable they are.

I recomend these zip off bottoms, I hike in to my stand and once I get there. I don't have to take off pants to put bottoms on. They keep me warm enough that I don't have to carry my insulated bibs.

Hello, I use Sitka hiking / hunting clothes as my regular daily clothes, and when day hiking, or rugged long distance hiking. I highly recommend using Sitka clothes as your daily clothes, if you can. Soft and love the ¾ length

Bought them in the summer so I haven’t warm them in cold weather yet, but they seem warm around the house. I actually bought these for snowboarding and believe they will make the best base layer to keep me warm.

The zip off design is handy. They zippers could land somewhere better for the sake of rubbing. As for the warmth this is a decent piece. The material feels slick enough to go under other pants without hanging. The ankle part flares out for pretty fat calves and is a bit awkward compared to rest of the fit.

Not so cold Marine

Being in the Marine Corps where I have stop and go often in the field, these warming layers make a huge difference when saving time in between movements. The convenience of not having to take off my boots and trousers is a huge game changer.

New Faves

I've always cut my long johns to just above or below my knees so these are everything I ever dreamed of! The zip off feature was HUGE during a recent stay at a Forest Service cabin. I didn't want to take my boots off yet because I was still chopping wood, but it was time to shed some warmth. I have size large and it is the right size for me. My waist is creeping up toward a 36 right now.

Great long john idea!

I always struggled with socks under LJ's or other way around, and frequently when I sat down they pulled tight on my legs. Both problems solved! This simple yet brilliant design prevents the sock/LJ/boot tangling, yet provides warmth where needed, and has the additional benefit of being easily removable. I wondered about the comfort of zippers, but they have covered the areas that might irritate with strategically placed cloth. 6 stars deserved!

Great base layer

Fits great, the zippers are ergonomic and out of the way, but easy to use when you're putting them on or taking them off. Warmth wise, they're about what I expected. Under the timberline's, they're too warm to hike in, but too cold to glass in unless I add a puffy. Perfect for low output still hunting in cold, but not terribly windy conditions which is what I got em for. 6'3, 210, 33/34 pants, the large fit well.

Love this! I can quickly zip it off for the walk out. I wear over a base layer and under stratus pants and have never been cold so far down to 27 degrees.

great pants but. . .

I just wish they offered these without the zip off option. I bought these to wear when skiing and fly fishing - two sports that involve relatively high boots. that zipper lives right around the area where your ski boots or wading boots ride which I can occasionally feel digging in but overall they're pretty nice base layers

Functional and warm

I purchased these for a passive, treestand style Iowa archery hunt, temps in the low 30s in the mornings and 50s in the afternoons. These were a perfect weight combined with the Stratus pants for these conditions. Mid-day I took advantage of the full zips to remove w/o having to take boots off. I look forward to using these in a western hunting application. I can see starting off with these from a spike camp/glassing point and unzipping them when things start getting more, warming up midday. Solid product.

Zip-off's are key

Got these for 2nd rifle in Colorado for an Elk hunt at about 11,000ft. Weather was unusually warm this year and I didn't need to use them. However, from experience in military I know that being able to remove these on the fly/'in the field' makes life much easier when going from a cold early morning to a warmer afternoon. Essentially, the zip-off feature makes these usable in a much wider variety of climates than traditional base layers. If you want/need a base layer, then you might as pay a little more and get the zip-off feature.
