Truly, great quality pant, but

Truly, great quality pant, but inseam length seemed startlingly short. Shipping to Canada was costly, with courier rates resulting in brokerage fees, and the return process was cumbersome and expensive. It was less of a loss to re-sell the item on Marketplace than suffer the Sitka return process. Kuiu made it waaaay easier, so I switched to them and am fully satisfied. Again, The Sitka gear was great quality, but their shipping methods in both directions make dealing, at least cross border, messy

Got these for Colo mid

Got these for Colo mid October hunt. Wore in wet snow. Kept me perfectly dry sitting on wet while the heavy wet snow fell. Took up minimal space in pack. Rolled up tightly and are not at all heavy. Easy to pull on over boots. Love the Tall fit. Added the jacket for this upcoming fall hunt.

Dew Point Pants

I use these pants year round. They take up minimal space or weight in your pack and go on in a flash thanks to the side zips. They are reliably water proof and surprisingly tough. I wore them on a 4 day hiking trip in the rockies under constant rain and stayed dry and mobile. This is my second pair.

Runs small. order a size larger

The pants seem well made. I wear 34x30 pants and usually wear a medium. The traverse bibs in medium fit over a base layer and mountain pants. The dew point does not. I had asked sitka cs who told me mediums would fit. Not true. The waist is too tight to snap. Disappointing. Runs small, Order a size larger than what sitka says. There fixed it for ya.

What can I say it keeps you dry

As a saddle hunter I love the full length side zips, it makes it easier to slip them on and off while hanging in the tree. They're not quiet so but if the woods aren't quiet in the rain and these are rain pants so it doesn't matter how quiet they are.

Ordered first set of dew point pants in medium (5’8”, 160lbs) and they were a perfect fit for wearing something light underneath(spring) Ordered second pair in large for layering on top of normal cold weather clothing. However, I was very disappointed when I laid down prone to shoot my rifle on rocky ground to find after only one time had damaged the knees causing leaks. Had to pay them to repair since they would not cover it under warranty. They obviously ate not designed for durability. No knee or elbow pads.

If weight is all that matters…

The Dew Point rain pants are light and packable for those hunters who count ounces. Minimalistic in design these pants are great for brief storm showers while on a backpack goat or sheep hunt. However, the pants are not very durable nor do they have the water repellency required for wet mountain hunts (BC, AK, etc) where at times, the rain doesn’t seem to let up. As a guide and recreational hunter the discontinued Stormfront Pants were Sitka’s most durable and water repellent pant (but significantly heavier) in comparison to the more recent release of the Dew Point pants. The Stormfront pants lasted almost a decade with proper product care. I hope Sitka will reintroduce a more robust rain pant for hunters who need durability and longevity of water repellency over the lightest weight possible.
