Unfortunately they are too big. It’s tough to know without trying on before buying. The 36 matches my size on the chart but I should have went with a 34R. I would go for a different colour when I look to return. The deep lichen is a brighter brown than I expected. Seem like a good pant though. Also purchased a pair of 36R Dakota dirt and they fit well but are more of a shell.

Fits true to size. Surprisingly quiet for a gore-tex product. Big fan of the zipper on the side that runs all the way up. I feel like the only thing that would make it better were some elastic retention straps that would allow you to roll the pants up while still keeping them on if you’re trying to avoid digging into your pack but still want the ability to roll them up to for your legs to breath. I tend to have to transition back and forth from beating wet brush to hiking logging roads on the Oregon coast. Other than that minor modification, I have no complaints!

I’m 5’6, 175 lbs with a medium athletic build. I originally got the small per the sizing guide knowing I was at the max threshold of the medium waist widths. It definitely fit but I knew it was going to be on top of other gear so I exchanged for the large to equate for it. I don’t know there to be raingear that can compete with Gore-Tex. It just keeps you dry - plain and simple.
