Best kept secret in the Sitka line.

If Sitka spent just a fraction of the time marketing the Grindstone jacket as they do their hunting line they wouldn’t be able to keep them in stock. This is by far the warmest light jacket I have ever owned. As a matter of fact I actually bought another one not long after I got the first one just so I could put it up in case they were to discontinue the line.

Grindstone work jacket

Jacket is very well made, good material and feels better to wear than other jackets in its class, however this jacket like other sitka products I’ve tried on, it runs small on me. I ordered an XL and the jacket was tight in the chest and short in the arms when I extend my arms so I returned it and got the correct size. I’m an XL in every other brand but in sitka I’m a XXL.

I bought the 2xl and

I bought the 2xl and I should have tried it on first lol all of my shirts are 2xl and perfect fit. Its my bad for not trying it on. Other than that the only thing I would wish for out of this jacket would be a removable hood.

Great Jacket! Highly Recommend

98 degrees in Denver today so no extensive use but jacket looks to be exactly as advertised. Needed a medium exertion work jacket. Fabric feels sturdy. Not as stiff as carhart (and probably slightly less rip resistant) but more comfortable, warmer, and lighter. Like the pocket setup and hood size. Nice enough looking to be a good everyday coat as well.

Finally durable material

Love this jacket !

I work in highrise construction. This winter was brutally cold. I needed a new work jacket to replace my old one that I have used for several years. I came to realize that the standard work clothing manufacturers, no longer make clothing for people that actually work. During my search I came up with the Grindstone work jacket. I wish I found it years ago. Especially after this winter. I absolutely love this jacket for work but it could easily do double duty for personal use outside of work. Sitka thought of everything. This is the perfect cold weather work jacket. Thank you very much !! Hard to believe that you can’t find actual work clothing anymore

Nice Warm Jacket

I really like the jacket except for the hood. I wish there was a collar for the hood because it always rides at the back of my head instead of hanging down. The hood is also too large; it would be nice to have a way to pull it off of my face.

Great chore/daily work coat

This coat is so well thought out. The inner sleeves keep wind out between your coat and sleeves. Hood is form fitted. Shell keeps wind and rain off and the fill is perfect for cold days.

The jacket is great. It is exactly what I needed for cool and windy spring days on my tractor, in the field and running errands. I like the long cut in the back and the range of motion that is similar to other outdoor brand jackets I own. (Think Patagonia & Marmot) The fit is great. I am 5'10" and 190. Been wearing with a 150wt wool base layer and if really cold, adding other mid-layer underneath. Plenty of room. The only reason I have listed it as a 4 and not a 5 is that the hood and the neck tunnel are a disaster! The hood should be removable or at the very least, be able to be tucked away. Because it lacks this feature, the neck tunnel and zipper are always in the way and rather annoying! Big hit on an otherwise great work coat. The Cordura fabric is AMAZING!

Great Jacket!

The jacket fits great, is lightweight and comfortable. It sheds light rain and breaks the wind as advertised. The only negative is how the bill on the hood pokes the back of your head and when pulled over hangs so far over the front of your face it’s hard to see. However, I just tuck it over a bit inside itself when it’s not needed to keep it from being a nuisance.

Great jacket zipper problem

It was my favorite work jacket until last month. Wore for 4 months. The The zipper slowly stared to fail. I put Sitka chapstick lube on it at first sign. I haven't reached the warranty department yet but they were great on my zip water repair. I'll post after reaching warranty department.

Awesome Jacket

I was real excited about this jacket. Unfortunately the Medium was too big and the small too tight. Loves the idea as it's great for environments where things tend to stick to clothing. Material seems very tough to keep things off. When I received my Medium I put it on and walked outside in single digit temps (Chicago) with wind chill feeling like below zero. Felt the cold right away, shocked at how non warm it kept me. Here's the kicker. I had already bought the Ridgeland WS hooded jacket and found it to keep me WAY warmer.

Poor construction

Ironic that I get an email to review my new jacket. After only having this for 2 weeks, I'm incredibly disappointed. The inner chest pocket zipper is poorly designed. The zipper caught the inner lining making it impossible to open or close. It actually tore into the thin pocket liner. This is not what one would expect for such a 'premium product'. If I could return it, I would.
