Get Jacket, Just go by your size; it will break-in

Was given one for Christmas (2024). Size L. I take L in most everything. Was tight. My son took it back and got me a XL. After wearing for a while found it plenty big. If I had known that after wearing it for a while, I found it "grew in size" I could I would go back to the Large. I just rolled up sleeves, and smile. Great Jacket, warm, breaks wind and sleeve inserts are really a good feature. MANY great features, sleeve inserts, magnetic closes, magnetic hood adjustments. . . etc. Great Jacket. JUST make sure you get it in your size and even though it feels tight at first, it will relax after break-in and fit just right.

Best Jacket on the Market

Absolutely love the grindstone work jacket line!!! Fits perfectly!! Cuts the wind like no other coat I've owned. My girlfriend is salty because there isn't a woman's version. This jacket isn't for early fall though. . . For me it's too warm in early fall.

Great Jacket.

Framer/ carpenter in Upstate NY. I’ve been wearing this as my winter work jacket, so far this winter it’s been awesome in temps down to 5°, it’s warm and does a great job cutting the wind. My only complaint about the jacket is the zipper, it seems like it’s going to be highly potential point of failure. You’d think that Sitka would had beefed up the zipper a bit for a work jacket. I’m 5’9” 170lbs, athletic build and a medium fits me perfect and has some room for other layers and bibs underneath.

needs a two way zapper and external storm flap

for the cost of this Jacket it should have a 2 way zipper it bunches up when you sit down. the storm flap should be on the out side over the zipper. having it on the inside only diverts the cold air inside the jacket. the hood is stiff and is difficult to get it to lay so its not rubbing on your neck. I like primaloft insulation but it could use more , not that worm.

Grindstone Jacket

Overall i really like the jacket however the way its tapered around the bottom makes it slightly restricting so layering with it is a bit tough. im 5'6 and 150lb and got the medium. everything else is good but the tightness around the bottom makes it tough to wear another layer under it

Best Jacket

I like to wait awhile after I get something from Sitka to write a review but this jacket is an exception. It fits perfect, is warm, and very durable. I’m a fit 5’7”, 175lbs and the medium sits great on my waist and sleeves are spot on. Living in WI, we’ve had some super cold days so far the jacket has done its job. I will say, this isn’t a jacket that you can put too many layers under, you can probably wear a shirt and a sweatshirt under it but once you get too bulky, the jacket gets a little too snug for my liking.

Expensive Carhartt

Not their best product. Onyx Black is also not black at all. Wind blows through the seams, arms are longer than other XL sized jackets. The torso is very large and cumbersome.

Great Coat

The was exactly what I was looking for in a work/utility coat. The outside is tough and absolutely wind proof. The inner lining is soft and warm. I have no complaints, but if I had to make one, the hood doesn't lay down very well in the back, but I'm sure that'll break in over time. It's comfortable and fits well. I'm 6'1", about 275, and fat around the gut. The 2XL fits me well. Haven't tested it in wet weather yet but given the fabric, I have no worries about that.

Stiff, noisy, cold and undersized

Purchased 2 colors for black friday. Price was still over priced for the quality. Jacket is thin and cold in 30 degree weather. Fits about a size smaller in the waist and chest but a size longer in sleeve length. It's stiff and noisy, the hood is very annoying since it's so stiff it doesnt fold back or get out of the way easy so it forces you to wear it or figure out a way to get it off your neck. It is not movement friendly like you would expect for a "work" jacket. Overall very dissapointed but may swap out for a size larger to try, really like the design but everything about this jacket so far is awful just like their customer service.

Sitka Grindstone Jacket

This jacket is phenomenal. Like a North Face-Carhartt hybrid. Super warm, no wind gets through & not too bulky. The recessed wrist cuffs are a nice touch! Bulletproof

2 seasons in, this is a very very good work jacket, i'd give it 6 stars if it was gore-tex level waterproof. The windstopper fabric is bulletproof. The overall quality of the components and construction is above all Simms, Burton, Patagonia and other comparable jackets I've owned. Buy it on sale and you will be happy for a very long time. The primaloft will cover you down to 35-40F with a flannel underneath, wear a fleece or fancy aerolite layer for colder temps. I am 6'0" and 200lbs and wear a Large. The wrists are a bit snug like other Sitka jackets (trapping warmth). No pit zips so dress light if you're stacking wood. Again the fabric is bulletproof.

Exactly what I wanted!
