Jet stream jacket review

I got this jacket yesterday and went hunting today with it and I was very disappointed I heard they are nice jackets but it didn’t meet my standards I was cold and it’s supposed to be wind proof and was not and I will be returning this jacket

Jet stream Jacket

I bought this jacket to be usd as an outer layer for elk and deer hunting. I normally wear a 2X but purchased a 3X to allow for more under layers. This seems to be great quality and durable which is exactly what I was looking for! Great product!

Jet Stream

I bought it a size up in XXL for layering when needed. Only complaint which is a big one is I can’t zip the zipper all the way up past my neck unless I’m wearing a t-shirt under it and even then it’s very tight. Neck area is very small for a coat that is suppose to zip to chin. Other than that it’s awesome.

Jetstream Jacket

My wife only likes me when I wear this, it’s probably because she can’t see me and I stay very quiet. Saved our marriage.

Zippers

I’ll start by saying I like the jacket a lot. It’s warm and really cuts the wind good. My issue is with the zippers for the pockets and the pit zips. They do not can be a real pain to operate when you are limited to doing it with one hand. They tend to want to hang up unless the fabric can be pulled tight with one hand while zipping with the other. This has proven very frustrating at times.

Need piece

This piece is super versatile. can wear it from 70 degree weather to 20. If it is not my outerwear I wear it with a delta wade. and i usually wear it with a heavy weight jacket.

Nice jacket but has a serious design flaw

I’m 6’ 165 lbs and got this jacket in a large. It fits very well with plenty of room to layer. I got it in the mud color for casual wear, fishing, and occasional use for hunting. Overall, it’s very comfortable and seems to be well made like all my other gear from Sitka. I haven’t owned it long enough to test for long term durability. I tried it out on a cold boat ride and the material definitely meets the windproof expectations. The significant flaw with this jacket is that there is nothing to tighten the cuffs around your wrists. They just hang loose. I wore it while riding my four wheeler on a cool evening and had a constant cold blast shooting up the sleeves due to my arms being extended outwards. It’s a little frustrating because the entire point of this jacket is to keep the wind off your body all because they couldn’t add a simple velcro strap or elastic material to the cuffs. The jacket material is indeed windproof, but the design of the cuffs can allow wind to enter the jacket depending on the position of your arms. I have had little to no issues with Sitka gear, but this design flaw is absolutely unacceptable for the purpose of this jacket. It is also unacceptable for the very high price they are asking for it. I still love the jacket and all the other features, but I don’t know what they were thinking when it comes to the cuffs. Basically, it’s an awesome jacket as long as you’re not holding your arms in a manner that the wind can blow into the sleeves. Normally, I would have given it 5 stars, but due to this very small but crucial detail I am giving it 3. I have read the other reviews and I am not the only one to experience this problem.

Great Jacket

This is by far one of the best jackets I have owned. It fits true is wind proof and the rain runs right off of it. I have noticed going through brush and other cover the jacket tends to pick pretty bad on the outside but I didn't purchase it not to use it. Overall great jacket.

Great as mid-layer or on its own

I have two jetstream jackets, one in blaze and one in marsh. On a recent trip to North Dakota I wore the marsh in the morning under my delta wading jacket in the morning and blaze in the afternoon under my strap vest chasing sharps, huns, and pheasant. Both jackets kept me comfortable in the field the quality is great and they are extremely comfortable. They are becoming my favorite pieces of hunting clothing.

Disappointed

This jacket is overhyped. Wore it in 20-30 degree 2weather with decent wind and no wind. Little to no warmth, didn’t do jack for wind. Fits great but way to thin for what it’s supposed to due and overhyped for performance. Way overrated in my opinion.

Almost perfect

Im 5’ 11” and run about 220 with athletic build. The XL fit perfect through the arms shoulders and chest, but ran pretty baggy around mid section and waist. The material and overall quality left nothing to be desired! It would have easily gotten a 5 star if it wasn’t for the boxy feel around my stomach and waist. I don’t have the option of almost true to size….

old version was better

I purchased the new version of the jetstream in a large tall to replace the old version of a large I wanted to have longer sleeves and longer down the lower back. My old jacket fit super well in the body. The new one fits like a garbage bag. It is the same width from the shoulders to the waist. the old one was tapered. It lets in way more cold air because the body fits like crap. They still havent put velcro on the cuff to tighten it up. and they removed the pocket on the left fore arm. its a great spot for calls and things. The chest pockets arnt usefull for me because my bino harness is in front of them. I was super exited to buy the new one. Super disappointed after getting it. Wore it on one 10 day elk hunt. then I went back to my old jetstream jacket. I might just sell this one and cut my losses. Not sure why Sitka changed there sizing. all the other pieces I have fit well. Not this one.

Cold and Wet

I expected a lot more for the premium price. When the temperature is below 50 degrees you can feel cold air coming through the arms. It's miserable in colder weather. I was caught in the rain once and got soaked to the skin. The Jetstream is about as water resistant as a cotton sweatshirt. You can only enjoy the Jetstream on sunny days. Otherwise you need a lot of extra clothing under it and a rain coat over it. So.... Why buy the Jetstream? Save your money unless you like to be cold and wet. I've found other Sitka gear that performs better.

Sooo Disappointed

I thought I was purchasing a water resistant wind proof jacket, I was wrong. This jacket is California spring turkey gear at best. Fits too small to layer in cold weather. Hunted all winter used it every hunt all season, from -15 to 75 degrees. This is a blue bird day jacket. Zipper cords fell off on the first month waist draw sting ends also broke.

Excellent fit

Was most concerned about fit when ordering…I’m always between large and xl depending on brand. I’m 6’ 1” and weigh 195 with long torso. Decided to order the xl based on some other reviews of similar sized men and this size is just perfect for me. Love the quality construction and wind barrier very comfortable jacket.

The best first line jacket I’ve purchased to date

I am on my 2nd jetstream jacket now. My first one was stolen and I am coming back to the same jacket after the theft. It provides adequate heat on cooler days, but where it shines is the dang thing is insanely water and wind resistant. You would be hard pressed to find another jacket that performs like this one and still maintains the ability to be stealthy in the woods. I would recommend wearing this jacket in temps of less than 40F and above 20F without base layers, with adequate layering I was able to wear it down into -15F with base layers and a hoodie underneath. Hope this helps any buyers!

Very nice jacket

Very nice jacket. The XLT fits me perfectly (220lb 6’3”) My only complaint is I got it in ochre which appeared to be a much more brownish orange in the photos. when i received it it was much brighter and more vivid of an orange than the pictures appeared to be. Not the end of the world, but thought it may be worth mentioning incase someone else was looking at that colour.

Jet stream jacket

I had gotten this jacket for Christmas from my grandparents and got it in the open country pattern and in an XL, I used it for turkey season and I guess mid Minnesota turkey season it blends in perfectly I was not expecting it to do that but It works. It’s a little more water proof than it says, I love the vents under the arm pit for walking a lot. But over all it’s a great jacket.

As with most Sitka products,

As with most Sitka products, really like the Jetstream Eclipse Jacket. The only reservation I have is the vent zipper. It is a bit cold on contact with gate skin, if you’re wearing a short sleeve shirt.

Great jacket. It’s my go

Great jacket. It’s my go to all around jacket. Perfect for archery season. Great athletic fit. Doesn’t bulged up when layering. Love the durability of this jacket. A must in your collection.

This new version Jetstream fits

This new version Jetstream fits my frame perfectly (XXL, 6'1, wide shoulders, medium frame, heavy build, carrying too much weight with a 40' waist). Sits well, moves very well, zero issues shouldering a rifle, drawing a bow or slinging on a backpack. I use it over a FL Furnace base layer, Fanatic hoody and still have plenty of free movement. Fabric face held up well against 20 min of moderate rain. Virtually zero warmth factor though. Hood fits well, no interference in vision, close enough to keep bugs out.

Of all my other Sitka

Of all my other Sitka gear this is the only item I am unhappy with. The fit of this jacket is just awful compared to all my other large and xl items. In addition, not having a velcro or atleast elastic cuff on a wind blocker is pretty disappointing. I want to love this jacket as it is very durable, wind resistant and water repellent but I just can't get over the odd fit and lack or adjustable cuffs. Would not purchase again.

Love it! I bought this as an outer layer to put over my Traverse jacket for turkey season. That setup worked perfect for cold windy days!!

Love this jacket, I should've

Love this jacket, I should've ordered a size down. But is great for turkey hunting, durable for western hunting. Works well on hot days to vent and great for really wicking wind.

I have two vintage jackets

I have two vintage jackets in Subalpine and Open Country colors. I bought myself a new jacket in the Elevated color. Yesterday I tested a new jacket model and was extremely pleased! The pocket on the chest has become much more convenient and roomy (it's a pity that the second pocket was removed). The sleeves of the jacket have become shorter and slightly wider than they were in the previous model. The adjustment of the hood has changed - it has become better than it was before! Also, the valve under the zipper has changed - it has become stiffer and better closes the zipper from the wind! The overall impression of the jacket is amazing - it has become something else. I really like that SITKA modernizes their models, making them better. Thank you very much for this - Thank you!

So many amazing things about

So many amazing things about this jacket as have been said in other reviews. One crucial element it is missing is a sleeve cuff, or even Velcro sleeve cuff adjustment. This would really help keep gusty bone chilling wind out, and resolve many of the sleeve length issues (let’s face it, everybody has different length arms), resulting in a more contoured fit!

Excellent jacket. Super comfortable and seems to be quite warm even though there is no insulation in it. The arms are maybe a touch long when you allow your arms to hang straight down but bent and with a layer on under they are just fine. Love this jacket!!

I've had this jacket for

I've had this jacket for a month now and can't speak highly enough of it. It has exceptional wind protection, is a soft, silent material and has a very nice and comfortable lining. I've not had it in heavy rainfall, but can say a light rain beads up and runs right off. The sizing is correct and the fit is great. I really like the armpit zippers too.

My favorite Sitka jacket, I

My favorite Sitka jacket, I have used it to bowhunt from Mexico to the Arctic circle. Warm, quiet, breaths well, cuts the wind. Excellent

Great quality jacket. My only

Great quality jacket. My only issue is the length of the sleeves. I have to roll them up so my knuckles aren't covered.

Compared to my older one

Compared to my older one this is definitely an upgrade. Softer material means less noise and more comfortable. And it seems a little easier to layer under without sizing up. Don’t get me wrong you can’t go crazy but I can get the ambient jacket under it with a couple thin layers under that and range of motion is good. If you like the old you will love the new.

Nice jacket but the pit

Nice jacket but the pit zips are as cold as the outdoor temp leaving my underarms cold all the time, like a cold wet noodle caressing my underarms all the time; a major design flaw; a little cloth backing over the zips could have fixed it. The jacket fits well otherwise but it's a springtime warmish weather or nice rain jacket now. I got it at about half price so I'll keep it but at full price I would have returned it.

I’m 6’2” 208 lbs with

I’m 6’2” 208 lbs with a 43R chest and I bought an XL. This jacket is really great. I just tested it on a 5 hour sit in temperatures between 13 and 22 Fahrenheit, and it performed very well. I layered with a 260 merino base layer, fleece, and large down jacket and was very comfortable and warm. If you’re going into single digits regularly, you might want a different model to accommodate more layers. But for weather I’d actually want to hunt in, this thing is perfect. Improvements: I’d like to see the elbows and forearms opened up just a little bit to allow for more layers—or really so my down jacket can retain maximum loft. Otherwise, it’s perfect

This is a great jacket

This is a great jacket for all purposes. Layer it with a t-shirt for early season to cut the chill/wind/rain. Replace the t-shirt or add to with something like the ambient hoodie or jacket and you're good to go through mid season. OR you could add a base layer, mid layer, then the jetstream and you can get through some pretty nasty weather all the way through late season. Look, I'm as cheap as they come. I've tried almost every brand of hunting clothing out there and if I haven't tried it, I promise I've spent countless hours researching it. I'm the kind of person that will spend 4 hours researching a $20 product and comparing it before a purchase. I can say with absolute certainty that Sitka is the BEST clothing line on the market. Not just hunting clothes, but best overall. Their clothes are cozy, durable, and designed to keep you extremely comfortable with minimal layers and bulk. You can buy other brands and replace them every few years, or buy Sitka and your set for decades if not life. Buy once cry once! Bottom line is this isn't clothing, its equipment. More than that, it's equipment that could quite literally save your life in the back country. Once you realize that, the price is absolutely justifiable. I trust this company so much that I will buy their stock if they go public and I'd quit my job to work for them if they have an opening. That is how much I believe in Sitka.

Love this jacket. It seemed

Love this jacket. It seemed a little loud when I took it out of the package, but after wearing it and washing it the outer shell softened and it is very quiet. Surprisingly warm and I love how it is windproof; I wore it while it was -17 degrees and while moving it kept me plenty warm. The zippered armpit pockets are great for shedding heat/moisture without having to remove the jacket. Not sure on durability yet since I have only had it for one year, but so far I love it.

Overall it's not bad, I

Overall it's not bad, I thought it would replace my soft shell jacket but I expected more fleece inside - it's really thin, I'd say like a rain cover so if it's chilly - you need to layer. 100% windproof however, this is true. Also, I can confirm the inside is a bit 'sticky', it kinda glues to the inner layer and it's a bit difficult to remove the jacket. But overall - totally satisfied with the purchase, I guess I just would need to purchase a fleece sweatshirt separately.

Another amazing piece from Sitka, does the job day in and day out, adjustable cuffs on the sleeves would be great but it's not a deal breaker for someone looking into buying the Jetstream. 6'2' I sized up to a 2XL and it's a perfect fit paired with the Ambient underneath.

Not having the ability to

Not having the ability to tighten the wrists was a deal breaker. Such a simple feature that was over looked. Paying top dollar don’t skip on the features.

Love this jacket, I have

Love this jacket, I have it in a couple color patterns but the waterfowl marsh pattern is my favorite one. It works well for me as a hunting guide in Arizona most especially when the wind is cold and nasty.

I absolutely love this Jacket.

I absolutely love this Jacket. It is amazing how much performance in a light weight package. I've always had Sitka gear for hunting, but purchased this jacket for casual and business/casual jacket. Everything I loved in the hunting apparel not in every day jacket. Light weight, protection from rain/ wind. Amazing warmth for the size.
